Options Choice InterviewsAll Year 10 and Year 12 students will be scheduled for an interview with a member of the Careers Team or a Senior Teacher.
These interviews aim to help our young people evaluate their options, and to offer guidance and advice where necessary to support the decision making process. The interviews take place approximately 2 weeks before the forms must be handed in. This is to allow students to follow up on the advice they are given by speaking to specific teachers, completing research into specific career paths etc. The times for these interviews will be sent out by post and parents are invited to attend. |
Options FairThe Option Fair takes place in January each year. Students are able to talk to Heads of Department and subject teachers to discuss their A-level choices during the afternoon. They can also speak to Past Pupils and people working in different employment or education settings linked to the subjects.
In addition, we have representatives from various organisations for those considering FE choices, apprenticeship routes etc., and from universities including UU and QUB. Our Careers Advisor will also be available to talk to students looking for additional guidance or with specific career paths in mind. All students are encouraged to ensure they have both 'Plan A' and 'Plan B' in place for their progression to Post 16.
Watch the 'Generation Innovation ' video on the left for inspiration on where the labour market is going in Northern Ireland, and what the future job market will look like. Will your subject choices let you tap into the jobs which will be available?
